Door de huidige onzekere situatie durven we nog niet te hard te hopen op een mooie zomervakantie in Frankrijk. Toch lijken de voorspellingen gunstig te zijn. Europa doet er alles aan om rond de zomervakantie weer open te gaan voor toeristen. Daarom kan het ook geen kwaad om nu al een beetje plannen te maken of in elk geval de nodige voorbereidingen te treffen.

Wel is duidelijk te zien dat mensen door de coronacrisis anders zijn gaan reizen. Waar veel mensen in eerste instantie nog voor een vliegvakantie kozen, is het aantal wat de voorkeur geeft aan de auto in het afgelopen jaar explosief toegenomen. Ben jij, zodra de omstandigheden dit weer toelaten, van plan om deze zomer met de auto op vakantie te gaan naar Frankrijk? Hier moet je in elk geval rekening mee houden!

Controleer je autoverzekering

Iedere automobilist in Nederland beschikt over een autoverzekering. Dit is niet alleen verplicht, maar zorgt er ook voor dat je nooit plotseling voor torenhoge kosten komt te staan in geval van een ongeluk. Hoewel we allemaal over een autoverzekering beschikken, kunnen er andere regels gelden in het buitenland. Daarom is het belangrijk om ruim voor vertrek je autoverzekering te controleren en de polis nog eens goed door te lezen. Is er bijvoorbeeld pechhulp aanwezig in Frankrijk? Zal dit dan ook vergoed worden door jouw verzekering? Ben je op dezelfde wijze gedekt wanneer je schade rijdt in Frankrijk?

Ben je niet tevreden over je huidige autoverzekering? Dan kan het zeker geen kwaad om over te stappen. Uit onderzoek blijkt dat de meeste mensen jaren bij dezelfde verzekeraar blijven, terwijl een auto verzekeren ook veel goedkoper of tegen gunstigere voorwaarden kan bij een andere verzekeraar. Als je vaak met de auto op vakantie gaat, kan vergelijken dan ook best gunstig zijn.

Verplichte items in Frankrijk

Zodra je op autovakantie gaat naar Frankrijk moet je er ook op berekend zijn dat sommige items verplicht zijn om mee te nemen. Als je niet de juiste spullen in de auto hebt liggen, kan hier zelfs een fikse boete op komen te staan. Controleer daarom ook altijd of je de volgende dingen bij je hebt:

• Veiligheidshesjes zijn verplicht in Frankrijk. Zodra je onverhoopt met pech onderweg komt te staan of bij een ongeluk betrokken raakt, ben je verplicht om direct een veiligheidshesje aan te doen zodra je langs de weg gaat staan. Wil je geen onverwachte bon op de mat krijgen bij thuiskomst? Zorg er dan voor dat dit veiligheidshesje altijd voor het grijpen ligt.

• In Frankrijk is het verplicht om een gevarendriehoek in de auto te vervoeren. Bij pech onderweg zet je direct je alarmlichten aan, plaats je de gevarendriehoek en wacht je tot hulp arriveert. Let op: dit geldt juist niet voor pech langs de snelweg. Hierbij is het te gevaarlijk om eerst een gevarendriehoek te plaatsen en moet je juist zo snel mogelijk met een veiligheidshesje aan achter de vangrail gaan staan.

• Ook een alcoholtest is sinds enkele jaren verplicht om in de auto te hebben. Met deze test kunnen bestuurders bij twijfel zelf testen of ze nog mogen rijden. Een politieagent kan vragen naar deze alcoholtest als ze je staande hebben gehouden en er staat ook een (lichte) boete op als je deze niet meeneemt.
