Door de huidige onzekere situatie durven we nog niet te hard te hopen op een mooie zomervakantie in Frankrijk. Toch lijken de voorspellingen gunstig te zijn. Europa doet er alles aan om rond de zomervakantie weer open te gaan voor toeristen. In Frankrijk is het verplicht om een milieusticker op je auto te hebben die aangeeft hoe milieubelastend die is. Heb je geen sticker op je auto en rij in een milieuzone, dan riskeer je een boete van 68 euro. Een sticker hoef je maar één keer per auto aan te schaffen. Het bestellen van de sticker is niet moeilijk maar ik liep wel tegen een browserprobleem aan. Als je al in Frankrijk bent dan is er geen man over boord, je kan alles online doen en met een voorlopig bewijs die je per e-mail ontvangt zit je goed.

Het is even oppassen deze zomer in Frankrijk. Met de auto althans want net voor de Nederlandse invasie van Frankrijk begint wordt de maximale snelheid verlaagd. Kon je vroeger buiten de bebouwde kom heerlijk doorrijden met negentig kilometer per uur, vanaf 1 juli mag je nog maar tachtig. Eigenlijk hoef je als Nederlander niet eens goed op te letten want in Nederland geldt dezelfde snelheid, we zouden er aangewend moeten zijn. Op de snelweg blijven de snelheden zo als ze waren; 130 en 110 bij regen.

In juli begint de jaarlijkse volksverhuizing naar het zuiden van Europa. Voor meer dan 1,3 miljoen Nederlanders betekent dit een autoreis naar Frankrijk en wie ooit door het Franse land heeft gereden weet dat de tolpoortjes nooit ver zijn. Deze zijn niet gratis, maar hoeveel kost het eigenlijk om naar onze vakantiebestemming te rijden? Volgens een onderzoek zijn Nederlandse vakantiegangers gemiddeld dertig procent van het reisbudget kwijt aan de Franse tol.
