Sauveterre-de-Rouergue is een vestingstadje in de Aveyron dat in de dertiende eeuw is gesticht. Met het dorp wilde de koning van Frankrijk zijn gezag in de streek versterken en de handel en nijverheid stimuleren. Het dorp heeft een centraal plein met arcaden die je in deze regio wel meer ziet.
