Capdenac ligt in het zuiden van Frankrijk even ten zuiden van Figeac hoog boven de rivier de Lot. Het dorp heeft een lange geschiedenis die terug gaat tot de oudheid maar het speelde vooral in de middeleeuwen een belangrijke rol in de regio. De grote Donjon uit die tijd domineert nog altijd het aanzien van het plaatsje maar er zijn hier ook Romeinse zaken te ontdekken.

Peyrusse-le-Roc ligt in het mooie gebied van tussen rivieren de Lot en de Aveyron. Wat nu een rustig dorp is was aan het einde van middeleeuwen een drukke stad. De Fransman is iemand van tradities, vastgeroeste gewoontes, gebruiken, rituelen die ze niet snel of misschien nooit zullen veranderen. Eén van die vaste tradities is het Franse dorpsfeest. Ieder dorp, maar dan ook ieder dorp heeft één keer per jaar zijn dorpsfeest, meestal gehouden in juli en augustus. Je kunt het een beetje vergelijken met kermis taferelen in Nederland. Het feest begint meestal vrijdag ‘s avonds en eindigt zondag in de kleine uurtjes.

La Romieu ligt in het zuidwesten van Frankrijk tussen Auch en Agen in de Midi-Pyrénées op de pelgrimsroute naar Santiago de Compostela. Het dorp wordt gedomineerd door de grote kerk die in de veertiende eeuw is gebouwd maar heeft ook prachtig dorpsplein met arcaden die karakteristiek zijn voor dit deel van Frankrijk. Net buiten het dorp is een botanische tuin waar je heerlijk kunt wandelen. La Romieu is sinds 2018 een ‘Plus Beaux Village de France’.

Als je op Lavardens komt aanrijden dan trekt het kasteel direct de aandacht. Ooit een stoer militair gebouw maar in de zeventiende eeuw omgebouwd tot een fraai lustoord met opvallende architectuur. Naast het kasteel heeft het dorp nog een leuke kerk en, vreemd genoeg, een telefoonmuseum.

Montréal ligt in de Gers en vormt samen met Larressingle en Fourcès een driehoek van prachtige dorpen. Het dorp in zuidwest Frankrijk heeft een prachtig kleine dorpskern waar het heerlijk wandelen is. Maar in het landschap van de Armagnac liggen rondom het dorp een aantal interessante zaken verborgen; een Romeinse villa, een vervallen kerk en één van de belangrijkste vindplaatsen van fossielen in Frankrijk.

Saint-Côme-d’Olt ligt op de oevers van de rivier de Lot en langs de pelgrimsroute naar Santiago de Compostella. Het meest in het opvallende aan het dorp is de torenspits van de kerk die vreemd gedraaid is. Je denkt even dat er iets niet goed is gegaan tijdens de bouw maar het is gewoon zo bedoeld. Dit soort rariteiten zie je maar weinig in Frankrijk.

Estaing ligt waar de rivier Coussane uitmondt in de Lot. De grote rivier slingert zich om het dorp heen waardoor het aan drie kanten water heeft. Dat is strategisch een goede positie want je hoeft alleen de kant waar geen water is te verdedigen en daar staat dan ook een flink kasteel. Het dorp heeft naast het kasteel vanzelfsprekend een kerk en een gezellig centrum met mooi uitzicht over de Lot en de oude brug.

Sarrant is een klein dorpje in de Gers op ongeveer veertig kilometer van Auch. Het dorp is gebouwd rondom de kerk St. Vincent. De oude verdedigingsmuren zijn nog duidelijk te herkennen. De prachtige toegangspoort uit de veertiende eeuw maakt het duidelijk dat in het dorp niet altijd even vredig is geweest.

Camon is een zeer klein dorpje in het zuiden Frankrijk in de streek Ariège. Het dorp is gebouwd rondom een middeleeuws klooster waar je kan slapen. Het historische gebouw is te bezichtigen maar is zeer populair om te trouwen.
