Het is even oppassen deze zomer in Frankrijk. Met de auto althans want net voor de Nederlandse invasie van Frankrijk begint wordt de maximale snelheid verlaagd. Kon je vroeger buiten de bebouwde kom heerlijk doorrijden met negentig kilometer per uur, vanaf 1 juli mag je nog maar tachtig. Eigenlijk hoef je als Nederlander niet eens goed op te letten want in Nederland geldt dezelfde snelheid, we zouden er aangewend moeten zijn. Op de snelweg blijven de snelheden zo als ze waren; 130 en 110 bij regen.

Frankrijk is een prachtig land waar je je uitstekend kan vermaken. Het land is echter niet heel goedkoop. Boodschappen zijn bijvoorbeeld iets duurder dan in Nederland maar daar staat tegenover dat benzine en restaurants weer iets goedkoper zijn. Musea, kastelen, dierentuinen, attractieparken en andere bezienswaardigheden zijn over het algemeen niet duur vergeleken met Nederland, maar voor veel moet je toch wel iets betalen.

Frankrijk is natuurlijk een fantastisch land om vakantie te vieren. De cultuur, de geschiedenis, het klimaat, de landschappen en natuurlijk het eten zorgen ervoor dat wij het er altijd goed naar onze zin hebben. Maar één van de leukste dingen in Frankrijk zijn volgens mij de enorme supermarkten. Sommige zijn groter dan de binnenstad van een flinke Nederlandse stad en ze verkopen er zo’n beetje alles. Ze zijn open tot ’s avonds laat en op zondag meestal tot een uur of twaalf in de middag.

Een reisgids is voor ons één van de belangrijkste stukken bagage als wij naar Frankrijk gaan, alleen de creditcard is nog belangrijker. Deze is bij ons gewoon van papier, handzaam, stevig en hij moet voldoende informatie bevatten. Een reisgids als e-boek is wel handig voor bij de gîte of camping, maar in het veld is het gewoon te onhandig. Daarbij kan je op papier nog eens makkelijk aantekeningen maken, gewoon met een pen.

Frankrijk heeft een prima wegennet dat je snel naar je bestemming brengt. Nadeel is natuurlijk dat je moet betalen. Het betalen zelf is al niet leuk, maar de hele afhandeling vormt een nog grotere irritatie: niet zelden staan er kilometers file voor een tolpoort. Vanaf volgende week heb ik daar veel minder last van want ik heb Télèpèage. Hoera!

De snelwegen in Frankrijk zijn prima, maar je moet er wel voor betalen. Dat vinden wij Nederlanders minder en als je helemaal naar het zuiden rijdt kan het flink oplopen. De Fransen zelf vinden het trouwens ook niet zo leuk, maar die betalen geen wegenbelasting. Als je echter een beetje goed plant kan je op deze kosten besparen. Hier lees je hoe je dat doet.

Frankrijk is een heerlijk land om op vakantie te gaan. Je kan er uitstekend eten en in bijna alle streken is er een prima infrastructuur voor toeristen, waardoor een slaapplek vinden eigenlijk geen probleem is. Toch krijg ik veel mailtjes waarin wordt gevraagd waar wij overnachten. Welnu dat doen we in een gîte, ofwel een vakantiehuis dat je kan huren. Er zijn er miljoenen in Frankrijk, keus genoeg dus. Voordat wij naar Frankrijk vertrekken hebben wij zo onze rituelen.  Dat heeft elk gezin denk ik wel. Eén daarvan is dat ik in de week van vertrek er voor zorg dat alle apps voor de smartphones en tablets up to date zijn. Hier de apps die wij het meest gebruiken tijdens onze vakantie in Frankrijk.
Bij deze klus kijk ik altijd of er nieuwe apps zijn die interessant, handig of gewoon leuk zijn. Dit zijn de apps die wij de afgelopen keer bij ons hadden. Frankrijk is groot en heeft gelukkig een prima snelwegennet waarover je zonder moeite in een dag naar de andere kant van het land rijdt. Je moet dan wel tol betalen, maar over het algemeen is de autoroute van goede kwaliteit.
