Monestiés is een klein vestingstadje in de Tarn. Het dorp is compact gebouwd binnen de muren die er niet meer staan, maar het is nog goed te zien waar ze ooit hebben gestaan. Hier en daar staat nog een poort. De huizen zijn dicht op elkaar gebouwd en de straatjes en steegjes vormen een doolhof rondom de kerk die in het midden van Monestiés staat.

Het woord pittoresk lijkt voor Castelnau-de-Montmiral te zijn bedacht. Centraal in dorp in de Tarn ligt een heerlijk plein met vakwerkhuizen met arcaden en in het midden een mooie oude put. Dit soort pleinen zie je wel meer in zuidwest Frankrijk maar dit plein is net iets kleiner waardoor het intiemer aanvoelt.

Bruniquel is één van de dorpen in de Gorges de l’Aveyron. Hoog boven het dorp toornt het kasteel dat eigenlijk uit twee delen bestaat. In de steile en vredige straatjes is het in de zomer heerlijk slenteren en genieten van één van de vele uitzichten. De oude huizen hebben karakteristieke ronde dakpannen en overal zie je overblijfselen van de versterkingen die het dorp ooit had.

Puycelci-Grésigne ligt hoog op een plateau boven de vallei van de rivier Vére. De strategische plek van het dorp was de Kelten voor de Romeinse bezetting van Gallië al duidelijk en dus bouwden ze er een burcht. Ze zouden niet de laatste zijn want tijdens de Romeinse tijd en de middeleeuwen werd het dorp opnieuw versterkt. Dat is nu nog te zien want het hele dorp ligt binnen de verdedigingsmuur en dat vinden wij nu mooi en schilderachtig.
