Montrésor ligt aan de Loire tussen Tours en Angers. Het dorp heeft een interessant kasteel waarvan het oudste deel is gebouwd in de elfde eeuw. In de vijftiende eeuw is het gebouw grondig verbouwd in Franse renaissance stijl, dat was toen in. Daarnaast heeft het dorp een aantal prachtige huizen, een aardig kerkje en een mooie wolhal.

Het kasteel kwam in de negentiende eeuw in handen van Xavier Branicki, een graaf uit Polen en een vriend van Napoleon III. Deze graaf heeft een belangrijke rol gespeeld in de ontwikkeling van de plaats. Hij liet het kasteel restaureren en uitbreiden, vernieuwde de landbouw en investeerde in de kerk en de school. Daarnaast verzamelde hij kunst zoals schilderijen uit Italië en Polen. De man was een echte negentiende-eeuwse filantroop. De nazaten van deze edelman wonen nog in het kasteel dat wel open is voor publiek. De tuinen en het uitzicht op de rivier de Indrois zijn tevens een bezoekje waard.

Naast het kasteel staat er nog aardig kerkje in de Montrésor. Het is gebouwd in de zestiende eeuw en heeft als basis een gotisch terwijl de versieringen de stijl van de Renaissance zijn. Een combinatie die wel meer voorkwam.

In de kerk is een praalgraf te zien van de oprichter. Naast de kerk en het kasteel heeft het dorp nog een aardige wolhal waar een tentoonstelling over de geschiedenis van het dorp en schilderijen te zien zijn.

Tot slot noemen we de brug over de tuin van het kasteel die is gemaakt door de firma Eiffel, jawel van de toren.
