Bourgondië is de streek in Frankrijk waarbij je als Nederlander het beste gevoel krijgt als je het uitspreekt. Het eten, het landschap en de manier van leven spreekt iedereen aan. En dat is ook terecht omdat Bourgondië alles heeft waar wij als Nederlanders denken waar je gelukkig van wordt; een prachtig landschap met bergen en wijngaarden, lekker eten, mooie steden zoals Autun en Dijon maar natuurlijk ook prachtige dorpen.

Het aanzicht en de geschiedenis van Chateauneuf wordt beheerst door het kasteel dat is gebouwd in de twaalfde eeuw. Het oude vestingstadje staat strategisch op een heuvel zodat  het dat de oude weg tussen Dijon en Autun beheerst. Daarbij is in de negentiende eeuw de Canal de Bourgogne bij gekomen en met de wijngaarden van de Côte d’Or om de hoek is Chateauneuf en Auxois het perfecte dorp is voor een ansichtkaart.

Tussen Dijon en Auxerre ligt Flavigny sur Ozerain. Een prachtig dorp dat hoog bovenop een heuvel is gebouwd. Het dorp heeft een geschiedenis van meer dan tweeduizend jaar en is bekend om de anijssnoepjes, de Anis de Flavigny, die hier worden gemaakt. Die zijn vooral in Frankrijk beroemd en je hoeft je dus niet te schamen als je er nog nooit van hebt gehoord. Toch kent een beetje Frankrijkliefhebber Flavigny sur Ozerain, al is het niet bij naam. Hier werd namelijk de film Chocolat opgenomen en als je die hebt gezien, heb je direct een beeld van het dorp en dat is niet verkeerd.

Nederlanders en Fransen hebben niet heel veel gemeen, maar onze liefde voor kaas is toch iets wat ons verbindt. Liefhebbers van kaas, en wie is dat niet, kan zijn hart ophalen in de Bourgogne. Naast tal van lokale soorten komen er drie AOC kazen uit deze streek. En dat is geen slechte score want er zijn slechts 45 van dit soort kazen. Er zijn natuurlijk veel meer soorten kazen in Frankrijk, maar die hebben geen appelation. Bourgondië heeft er dus drie en die moet je eten als je de streek bezoekt. Hier vind je een beschrijving van de Epoisses, de Langres, de Chaource en nog handvol andere Bourgondische kazen die de moeite waard zijn om te proberen.

Het dorp Noyers ligt op een soort schiereiland in de rivier Le Serein mooi te zijn in het landschap van Bourgondië. Het dorp kent een lange geschiedenis, maar is vooral mooi, rustig en sfeervol. Noyers sur Serein heeft een rijk verleden. In de middeleeuwen was het dorp één van de best verdedigde bolwerken, later werd Noyers een belangrijk centrum voor de wijnhandel. Een prima bestemming voor een leuke dag, maar ook groot genoeg om een paar dagen te verblijven.

Van alle streken in Frankrijk spreekt Bourgondië ons Nederlanders waarschijnlijk het meest aan. Alleen het woord al. Spreek Bourgondië maar eens hardop uit en je krijgt direct een gelukkig gevoel. Bourgondisch leven spreekt iedereen aan en als we de bierreclame mogen geloven, begrijpen wij calvinisten daar niets van. Zak je onder de rivieren, dan vind je het Bourgondische leven al snel. In Brabant en Limburg weten ze wat eten, feesten en liefhebben is. Ook de Belgen schijnen er verstand van te hebben.

Bibracte ligt op de berg Mont Beuvray, 25 kilometer van Autun in Bourgondië. Op deze berg, in het zuiden van de Morvan, ligt een uitgebreid gebied waar een oude Keltische stad wordt opgegraven. Hier kun je archeologen aan het werk zien, een prachtig museum bezoeken, heerlijk wandelen en tegenwoordig zelfs een uitdagend parcours in de bomen volgen. Die Fransen weten heel goed hoe ze het verhaal van het verleden op een populaire manier moeten vertellen.

Vézelay is mogelijk de bekendste ‘Plus Beaux de Village de France’. Het plaatsje staat bol van geschiedenis, religie en cultuur en wordt in de zomer druk bezocht door toeristen. De bekende Michelingids geeft Vézelay het predicaat ‘De reis waard’ en dat is volkomen terecht! Wij geven dit prachtige dorp dan ook vijf sterren. Zo snel mogelijk gaan dus!

Apremont-sur-Allier ligt slechts een paar kilometer van Nevers aan de oever van de rivier de Allier. Deze brede rivier geeft het dorp zijn karakter. Apremont bestaat feitelijk uit twee rijen huizen en die vormen samen een straat. De andere straat van het dorpje loopt evenwijdig aan het eerste straatje maar met een prachtig uitzicht op de rivier.
