Ploumanac’h ligt aan de noordelijke kust van Bretagne op een eigen schiereiland en is beroemd om zijn roze rotsen. Deze zijn het best te zien direct langs de kustlijn dat hier uitermate grillig verloopt. Het dorpje Saint-Guirec is een gezellige mix van haven en strand. Het heidelandschap direct achter de kust maakt dit paradijsje voor wandelaars compleet.

Le Cairn de Barnenez is een grafmonument in het noorden van Bretagne en ligt bijzonder fraai aan de baai van Morlaix. Het oudste gedeelte is meer dan 6850 jaar geleden gebouwd en is daarmee het oudste gebouw in de wereld.

Aan de oever van een meertje midden in het oerbos van Bretagne ligt Huelgoat. Het dorp is het perfecte begin- en eind punt van veel mooie wandeltochten. De eettentjes nodigen je na een flinke wandeltocht vanzelf uit om de vermoeide voeten even te laten rusten onder het genot van een drankje of hapje.

Île de Sein is op het eerste gezicht één van de meest aansprekende Plus Beaux Villages de France. Het dorp ligt namelijk op een eiland van nog geen twee kilometer lang op ongeveer acht kilometer van de kust van Bretagne. Een kleine pont brengt je over ‘Raz de Sein’ zoals de zeestraat heet, naar dit kleine paradijs.

Vlak onder Saint Malo en in de buurt van Mont Saint Michel ligt het oude vissersdorp Saint Suliac. De huizen zijn voor een groot deel gebouwd van graniet en staan in nauwe straatjes die in het seizoen vol staan met bloemen. Het dorp heeft een eeuwenoud klooster dat meerdere keren is herbouwd. Helaas voor ons is dat niet helemaal succesvol geweest, want nu rest er nog alleen een ruïne, wat ook weer zijn charme heeft natuurlijk.

Rochefort-en-Terre ligt in een prachtig gebied in het zuiden van Bretagne dat bekend staat als de bloementuin van de streek. Nu zijn wij wel wat gewend in Nederland als het om bloemen gaat, maar dit dorp kan zich qua bloemen meten met wat wij hier in Nederland hebben. De straatjes en pleintjes in het dorp zijn in een uitzonderlijk goede conditie.

Zoals veel dorpjes is Locronan ontstaan rondom een klooster. Het klooster werd in de zesde eeuw gesticht door de heilige Ronan. We weten niet zo veel over deze goede man maar hij was waarschijnlijk afkomstig uit Ierland en naar Bretagne afgereisd om het christendom te promoten. Een soort Bonifatius van Bretagne zou je kunnen zeggen. Zijn relieken liggen nog altijd in het kerkje dat hier in de vijftiende eeuw is gebouwd.

In de Finistère vlak naast het Parc Naturel Régional d’Armorique ligt Le Faou. Het dorpje ligt aan een binnenzee en heeft een haventje. In de zestiende eeuw was Le Faou een drukke plaats waar veel schepen werden gebouwd. Veel huizen in het dorp zijn uit deze tijd en je kan er dan ook heerlijk wandelen, waarna je de honger kan stillen aan een eenvoudige doch voedzame maaltijd. Wie nog energie overheeft kan vervolgens een frisse wandeling in de natuur maken.
