Saint-Robert ligt in het prachtige landschap op de grens van de Perigord, Limousin en de Quercy. Het dorp wordt gedomineerd door de grote abdijkerk waar omheen is gebouwd. Sinds 1972 wordt er in de kerk elke zomer een festival voor klassieke muziek gehouden dat inmiddels een zeer goede reputatie heeft opgebouwd. Het moet een unieke ervaring zijn om in de kerk uit de twaalfde eeuw een concert bij te wonen.

Cardaillac ligt in het departement De Lot op tien kilometer van Figeac, de thuisbasis van de machtige feodale familie met dezelfde naam als het dorp. Van het kasteel dat in de twaalfde eeuw is gebouwd staan nog drie torens waarvan twee vierkante en één ronde. Het kasteel was gebouwd in een driehoek en stond op een grote rots boven het dorp.

Het kleine dorpje Loubressac ligt op een rots boven de vallei van de Dordogne in de regio Midi-Pyrénées. Het dorpje heeft een kasteel, een mooie kerk en is nog niet zo druk met toeristen zodat je hier nog de rustige sfeer van de Quercy kan beleven met een adembenemend uitzicht op het dal van de Dordogne.

Het dorp Autoire ligt in het westen in Frankrijk in de buurt van de rivieren de Lot en de Dordogne. Het heeft alles wat je van een Frans dorp mag verwachten; mooie huizen, een kerkje, een restaurantje en een monument voor de gesneuvelde soldaten uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Maar Autoire heeft nog iets meer want het ligt prachtig tussen de rotsen en heeft als bonus een prachtige waterval. Het is even lopen vanuit het dorp, maar het is de moeite waard! Collonges la Rouge is een belangrijk dorp voor Les plus Beaux Villages de France. Het was de burgemeester van dit dorp die aan de hand van een boekje besloot een stichting op te richten om de mooiste dorpen van Frankrijk te kiezen. Belangrijk inderdaad, maar we hebben dit niet mee laten wegen bij de beoordeling van dit mooie dorp. Het dorp bij de Dordogne krijgt drie sterren.

Als je de eerste keer het boekje van ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’ doorbladert, dan is er één naam die direct opvalt: Saint Cirq-Lapopie. Dit dorp aan de rivier de Lot heeft een bijna belachelijke naam, maar als je er bent geweest overtreft de schoonheid ervan de lollige naam.
