Capdenac ligt in het zuiden van Frankrijk even ten zuiden van Figeac hoog boven de rivier de Lot. Het dorp heeft een lange geschiedenis die terug gaat tot de oudheid maar het speelde vooral in de middeleeuwen een belangrijke rol in de regio. De grote Donjon uit die tijd domineert nog altijd het aanzien van het plaatsje maar er zijn hier ook Romeinse zaken te ontdekken.

Cardaillac ligt in het departement De Lot op tien kilometer van Figeac, de thuisbasis van de machtige feodale familie met dezelfde naam als het dorp. Van het kasteel dat in de twaalfde eeuw is gebouwd staan nog drie torens waarvan twee vierkante en één ronde. Het kasteel was gebouwd in een driehoek en stond op een grote rots boven het dorp.

Rocamadour is de oudste toeristische attractie in de omgeving van de Dordogne. Als je de pelgrimstochten tenminste ziet als tourisme avant la lettre is het stadje al eeuwen een trekpleister voor reizigers en toeristen. Dankzij een unieke combinatie van geschiedenis, gezelligheid, kunst en een prachtig landschap werkt het stadje als een magneet op reizigers. Iedereen die in de buurt is mag het stadje gebouwd op een rots boven de rivier Alzou absoluut niet missen.

Het kleine dorpje Loubressac ligt op een rots boven de vallei van de Dordogne in de regio Midi-Pyrénées. Het dorpje heeft een kasteel, een mooie kerk en is nog niet zo druk met toeristen zodat je hier nog de rustige sfeer van de Quercy kan beleven met een adembenemend uitzicht op het dal van de Dordogne.

Langs de rivieren de Dordogne en de Lot zijn behoorlijk wat grotten te bezoeken. Gouffre de Padirac is één van de bekendste en spectaculairste. Dit komt omdat er twee zaken van deze grot zeer tot de verbeelding spreken. Ten eerste bestaat de ingang uit een enorm gat in de grond met een doorsnede van meer dan veertig meter en ten tweede stroomt in de grot een rivier, waar je met gondels overheen vaart. Naast de prachtige zalen zijn het deze twee eigenschappen die deze grot zo geliefd maken bij toeristen.

Het dorp Autoire ligt in het westen in Frankrijk in de buurt van de rivieren de Lot en de Dordogne. Het heeft alles wat je van een Frans dorp mag verwachten; mooie huizen, een kerkje, een restaurantje en een monument voor de gesneuvelde soldaten uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Maar Autoire heeft nog iets meer want het ligt prachtig tussen de rotsen en heeft als bonus een prachtige waterval. Het is even lopen vanuit het dorp, maar het is de moeite waard! Lauzerte is vrij groot voor een dorpje. Als je door de straten en over de pleinen loopt, voelt deze plaats ook niet als een dorp. Dat wil niet zeggen dat Lauzerte geen bezoek waard is, maar als ‘Plus Beaux Village de France’ voelt het toch redelijk groot.
