De alpen kennen we vooral van bergen, wandelingen en natuurlijk wintersport. Maar voor dit alles werd uitgevonden was er al kaas, en vooral lekkere kaas. Hoog in de Alpen groeit tussen de bergtoppen rijk en kruidig gras op de weiden. Dat wordt in zomer door de koeien omgezet in heerlijke romige melk die uiteindelijk wordt verwerkt tot kaas, hele goede kaas.
Grignan ligt in de prachtige streek de Drôme op de grens van de Vaucluse in het zuiden van Frankrijk. Het dorp wordt gedomineerd door het kasteel die hier al sinds de elfde eeuw staat.
