Het kasteel van Chambord is het grootste, duurste en indrukwekkendste kasteel in de Loire vallei en daar staan er nog al wat. Een bezoek aan dit chateau is dan ook een absolute must als je in de buurt van Blois bent.

De Gorges du Verdon is een diepe kloof en ligt in de Provence precies op de grens tussen de Alpes-de-Haute-Provence en de Var. Hier loopt de rivier de Verdon spectaculair door een 25 kilometer lange kloof tussen Castellane en het stuwmeer van Sainte-Croix. Omdat het groene water al een paar miljoen jaar stroomt heeft zich een ruig landschap met hoge steile kliffen gevormd.

Het schiereiland van Cotentin in Normandië heeft verrassend veel variatie in landschappen met elk hun eigen sfeer. Beroemd zijn de grote zandstranden waar de Amerikanen en Britten in 1944 landden, rij een paar kilometer verder en de kust is veranderd in hoge kliffen. Op een zonnige maar winderige dag in mei maakte wij een autotocht langs de kust ten zuiden van Cherbourg richting Cap La Hague. We ontdekten hier één van de mooiste en dramatische kusten van Frankrijk.
